Storyboard Pattern

Main issues

An architectural pattern for the creation of a StoryBoard. The StoryBoard is a techniqu e that is borrowed from the film making, and enhanced with additional characteristics f rom Multimedia systems such as interactivity. This pattern assists the designer in gene rating a StoryBoard for the application that he is going to develop.

Spatial composition.

Rough description of position of multimedia object on the screen. Technical view of the user interface.

Temporal composition.

Time line presentation of all the time media.

Interactivity composition.

Description of all the interactivity elements.

Applicability: Pattern can be used for creation of a Story Board for any multimedia pattern.

Challenges

Story board developed must be understood by all kinds of people in a multimedia environ ment. Common vocab. Between different developers of storyboard It must be independent from any authoring tool. It must be easily extensible to conform to system evolution.

Open questions

Planned to be expanded into a pattern language with patterns that describe each of the three elements.
